In remembrance of 9/11

Today, I went to Tokyo for a job interview. It was scheduled for the late afternoon so I went a bit early and had lunch near Shinjuku station. Since I didn't want to risk an upset stomach, I decided to play it safe by eating a sandwich in a small place called Stacker on the 11th floor of the Shinjuku Takamashiya. Today being Sept. 11, in remembrance of the World Trade Center attacks, I ordered the "New York Hot Sando," (Sando is Japanese for sand-o-wich) which is pictured below. As it turned out, it was just a ham and cheese sandwich, slightly toasted ... but I enjoyed it.

By the way, I feel the interview (which lasted 3 and 1/2 hours) went very well ... I'm glad I ate that sandwich. (^-^)

Japan corrupts the mind ...

I just received an e-mail from a headhunter with the following closing salutation:

"In the meantime, if you have questions please don't feel free to contact me."

Mahjong kicks ass !!

8/17/2007 (Fri)

In college, my Filipino friends used to play Mahjong all the time. But, whenever I'd ask them if I could play, they'd always say, "Mahjong is too difficult!" So I never learned how. -----> 10 years have passed. Last year, when I went to Hong Kong for Eugene and Candy's wedding, all of the old people were sitting around playing Mahjong. It looked like fun, but since I still didn't know how to play, I couldn't participate.
Therefore, in order to learn how, this year I bought my own Mahjong set!

Recently, Betty (Hong Kong), Sai (Taiwan), and Yan (Hong Kong) taught me how to play !!! Finally !!! .... Finally, I've learned how to play Mahjong !!!! Thank You !!!!

The purpose of this Blog is to give me a place where I can practice writing in Japanese. To keep it interesting, I'll probably be posting pictures of my friends and our fun times in Japan. However, since I'll be posting pictures online, I'll want to share them with my friends and family back in the U.S. Therefore, it looks like I have to turn this into a dual English and Japanese Blog.
Therefore, for the English only version, choose
    English only
or for the Japanese only version, choose
    日本語だけ
or if you feel like criticizing my translating abilities, choose
    Both English and 日本語

日本語頑張る!!!
